Milk and Honey Group specializes in renovation and full home interior design, emphasizing architectural design. Our passion lies in refreshing older and historic homes - honoring their architectural past while updating them for modern families. We have the unique ability to serve our clients in both large renovations and smaller interior design projects, assisting clients throughout all the phases of their lives and design needs.
We offer two areas of of service:
INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN + INTERIOR DESIGN:
Interior Architecture and Architectural Design are the core of our business and where we began in 2008. In collaboration with, or in lieu of, an architect we offer interior design and architecture, as well as construction consultancy for major renovation and new construction projects. Our full-time team includes architectural and interior designers.
From floorplans to furnishings, we also offer comprehensive Interior Design - from one room to a full house - with or without minor construction. Furniture including custom pieces, paint consultation, window treatments, rugs and decor encompass this offering. This service is often utilized after a renovation or new construction.
BUILD + PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Licensed in Massachusetts and registered in Rhode Island, we offer full build services and construction management for new build construction or major renovation projects. This is offered in conjunction with interior architecture and design. We have a full-time crew of 5, including a foreman and carpenters, who form the core of our offering. Our vetted team includes all aspects of construction including custom millwork.
Our process:
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN + INTERIOR DESIGN
We start with an in-home kickoff meeting to assess your goals and tour your existing space. During this phase we dig down into how you use your home - every detail about your family and furry friends - and determine your style preferences through inspiration images. Following this comprehensive assessment, we begin creating mood boards, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings. We then present our Design Proposal in person for your review. During this meeting we take notes on any revisions or clarifications, then update our Proposal to reflect those changes. This phase spans 3-12 weeks or longer from the kickoff meeting.
Renovation/Construction: If you are renovating or building, we may engage a Structural Engineer to provide a complete set of permit-ready plans.
Architectural Design vs Interior Design: If you are renovating THEN engaging us for interior design, we will start a second design phase following the completion of Architectural Design.
BUILD + PROJECT MANAGEMENT
During the build phase, our focus is on turning design plans into reality. The construction process includes demolition and removal, foundation and sitework, framing, rough plumbing, electrical, and HVAC installation, as well as thorough inspections at various stages. Following inspections we move to insulation, sheet rock, plaster, finish carpentry, tile and flooring, cabinetry and vanity installation, stone installation, and finishing touches on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Finally we paint and install hardware. During this phase we manage all subcontractors, as well as oversee work progress through on-site visits. We also coordinate deliveries, order and purchase necessary items, and provide regular status updates throughout the project.
Time: Given the diverse scope of tasks, this phase typically spans 6-9 months, potentially extending up to a year based on the project's complexity.
INSTALLATION & STYLING
In this phase, we ensure a seamless transition from construction to completion to fully realize the home of your dreams! We coordinate the white glove delivery of your goods, providing onsite management by our team on your installation day. Our meticulous approach extends to hand-selecting accessories that enhance and complete your space. We take pride in styling your finished rooms, ensuring they reflect the envisioned design. Additionally, our commitment continues with post-install design support. Depending on the size of your project, multiple installations may be scheduled to ensure every detail aligns with your vision.
