Handpicked this week: February 18

We are so busy these days - I am so privileged to have projects booked through fall right now with some incredible and trusting new clients. In fact, we have so much work we've brought on an Assistant Designer Jaclyn (we're adding to the "Group")! Welcome Jaclyn (you'll hear more about her in the weeks to come)!

For new subscribers, in this weekly newsletter I share my top picks for the week - trends or particularly noteworthy design. Each week I share an interior, a real estate listing and a style item that I think are special. I hope you'll let me know what you think!

1] Handpicked: INTERIOR

With all this snow, I'm dreaming of a warm escape. Another favorite Australian designer Tamsin Johnson has gorgeous coastal modern style but with unexpected twists. Pink and white stripes (ode to French cabanas!), modern furniture shapes and sculptural rattan are all fresh and inspiring.

Chairs or sculpture?

That terrazzo floor!

I just love how Tamsin's clean, casual style is clearly influenced by the sea, but doesn't involve tropical prints or shells (yes those rattan fish are almost kitsch - but unexpected enough to be inspired). I need to visit Australia soon and see all this work in person.

2) Handpicked: REAL ESTATE

One of my favorite clients alerted me to this gem in Newton Center. It was designed by Annie Cobb, one of the country's first women architects and is basically untouched. So of course it is calling to me (and you maybe?). Gorgeous paneling detail and even the original brass taps! Swoon.

It definitely needs some updates in the baths and the kitchen, but nothing too difficult to make it really spectacular. And with a price cut, it's a pretty amazing investment.

3) Handpicked: STYLE

For Christmas, I got this adorable (and waterproof!) Mark & Graham beach tote. I always cherish a personalized gift and there are so many ways you could use a monogrammed tote like this - individual pieces for the kids (think about all that wet ski gear), one for the pup, multiples for a summer house (you'll never lose your spot on the beach!)... Speaking of beach accessories, does anyone have any good book recommendations??? I just finished the Paper Palace and highly recommend it, both for the gripping story but also for its evocative summer vibe.

BONUS TOOL: What will it cost?

Are you considering a renovation in 2022? Then I hope you'll download my Renovation Spreadsheet. It details all the expenses involved in renovation construction and can be used for a single bathroom to a full home.

I hope you love these handpicked favorites! I would love to hear from you and what YOUR favorites are this week.
