Handpicked this week - September 18

Welcome to my Handpicked by Milk and Honey Group newsletter. For new subscribers, in this weekly newsletter I share my top picks for the week - trends or particularly noteworthy design. Each week I share an interior, a real estate listing and a style item that I think are special. I hope you'll let me know what you think!

1] Handpicked: INTERIOR

I have featured W Design Collective before, both for their design but also for their straightforward and honest disclosure on what the process of construction is (and how it intersects with design). They're unapologetic about the value of high quality designers and GCs to a project. They're truthful about the stress and demands of the process (read: money, money, money). And their aesthetic is light and livable and refreshing, with a respect for classic architecture.

Their subtle details, creamy colors and restrained details (hardware - swoon) make their spaces inviting and soothing. What do you think?

2) Handpicked: REAL ESTATE

I am in love with this house on historic Brattle Street in Cambridge. The shingles! The curving staircase! Don't miss the amazing trim detail around the front door... They're really putting some lipstick on the pig in the photos... note the judicious placement of nightstands in front of radiators (um, fire hazard).

It needs a new kitchen for sure and obviously some system upgrades, but this one is not to be missed.

3) Handpicked: STYLE

As a former art major in college (with a focus on oil painting), I am always drawn to artists with a very painterly hand. Probably my very favorite painter is John Singer Sargent whom I have adored since I first saw El Jaleo at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston as a child.

I love finding modern American artists who reference Sargent's painterly tradition. Laurie Ann is an artist based out of Phoenix. I am particularly drawn to her large-format landscapes which can really add drama and color to a neutral space.

And as a bonus, so many of my clients have the Frame TV, and you can purchase her art for that as well!

That's all from our team this week - can't wait until next week!
